Are you an experienced Assistant Headteacher looking for work in Wolverhampton?
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, based in Wolverhampton. It is a long-term placement with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
The Assistant Headteacher will support the Headteacher in leading the school, focusing on curriculum, learning, and pupil progress. They will oversee teaching and learning, assessment, and interventions to ensure high standards and positive outcomes for all pupils. They will also contribute to whole-school development, staff training, and strategic planning while upholding the school’s values and safeguarding responsibilities.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to provide strong leadership and management of teaching and learning across the school.
- Support a safe and healthy school environment by implementing safeguarding procedures and promoting staff wellbeing.
- Play an active role in the leadership team, helping to improve identified areas and maintain high teaching standards.
- Stay up to date with national education strategies, research, and reviews, attending relevant training and leading CPD for staff.
- Lead on specific areas of the School Development Plan, ensuring effective implementation.
- Oversee the curriculum and take responsibility for a particular subject area.
- Seek leadership and management development opportunities in agreement with the Headteacher.
- Set high standards of behaviour by following and promoting school policies.
- Uphold and promote the school’s values and aims.
The successful Assistant Headteacher must:
- Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Show proven leadership skills with experience in whole-school improvement.
- Be an outstanding classroom practitioner with a track record of raising attainment.
- Have at least 5 years of teaching experience, including 2 years in a special school.
- Be able to lead on curriculum planning, assessment, and pupil progress tracking.
- Demonstrate experience in using data to set targets and improve outcomes.
- Have strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, pupils, and parents.
- Be committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and the wellbeing of all pupils.
- Show the ability to lead, manage change, and support staff development.
- Promote and uphold the school's values and high expectations.
