Job Description:

Smart Education is seeking a dedicated and skilled Functional Skills Tutor to work in Wolverhampton. This role offers flexibility and the opportunity to make a real difference in the educational journey of young people. As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will have the flexibility to work between 10 and 40 hours per week, providing personalised tuition to students aged 4 to 24 in their homes or at a tuition centre.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality Functional Skills tutoring.
  • Conduct assessments to identify each student’s educational needs and tailor lessons accordingly.
  • Plan and prepare lessons with 2 hours of dedicated planning and preparation time per student.
  • Write detailed reports and provide ongoing assessments to track student progress.
  • Work with young people who may have behavioural challenges or special educational needs, adapting teaching methods to meet their requirements.
  • Ensure that tuition is delivered in a safe and supportive environment, whether at the student’s home or a tuition centre.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
  • Proven experience in assessing, report writing, and curriculum planning using the National Curriculum.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
