Functional Skills Tutor
Location: Wolverhampton
Contract: Full-time, Permanent (37.5 hours per week)
Salary: Up to £28,000 (dependent on experience)
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Functional Skills Tutor to join our team in Wolverhampton. The successful candidate will deliver exciting and engaging learning opportunities, focusing on accredited Employability qualifications, Functional Skills (Maths and English), Vocational Skills, and Essential Digital Skills. This role supports adult learners (19+) across a range of ability levels (Entry 1 to Level 2) to achieve their personal and professional goals.
You will provide high-quality provision, ensuring compliance with academic and funding criteria, while addressing local labour market needs and sector skill gaps.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and assess Functional Skills sessions in Maths and English, alongside Employability qualifications and Vocational Skills.
- Tailor delivery to a diverse cohort of learners aged 19+, supporting progression from Entry 1 to Level 2.
- Ensure delivery meets academic standards and funding requirements.
- Empower learners to achieve personal learning goals and prepare for employment, further education, or other positive outcomes.
- Leverage knowledge of the local labour market, skills gaps, and employment opportunities to inform and enhance delivery.
- Monitor and record learner progress, providing constructive feedback to support individual development.
- Work towards and achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and outcomes.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that motivates and inspires learners.
Essential Criteria
- A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., CTLLS, PTLLS, AET, PGCE).
- Proven experience delivering Functional Skills (Maths and English) at Entry Level to Level 2.
- Strong knowledge of employability training, vocational skills, and digital skills delivery.
- Familiarity with the local labour market, sector-specific skill gaps, and training opportunities.
- Proficiency in IT and the use of digital tools to support learning and administrative tasks.
- Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English.
- A results-driven approach with the ability to meet and exceed KPIs.
- Passionate, dedicated, and ambitious, with a commitment to supporting learners’ success.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience delivering Essential Digital Skills qualifications.
- Understanding of funding and compliance requirements in the adult education and skills sector.
