An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled Production Process Engineer to join a leading organisation in Wolverhampton. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in optimising plant operations, driving continuous improvement and developing efficient production processes. What you'll do:

As a Production Process Engineer, you will be instrumental in enhancing the efficiency of our client's operations. Your primary focus will be on identifying improvements in production personnel usage, reducing waste, and enabling supervisory teams to lead their teams more effectively. You will also be responsible for managing small-scale capital improvement projects aimed at upgrading equipment, implementing new technologies, or improving plant processes. Furthermore, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all production processes comply with environmental regulations.

  • Identify improved methods of working alongside the Operations Manager, production supervisory team, and operators.
  • Monitor the production process continuously to ensure it operates within established parameters.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain detailed process documentation, including SOPs for both manual and automated processes.
  • Ensure that the galvanizing process meets the highest quality standards through regular inspections and audits.
  • Work closely with the HSE Manager to ensure all production processes adhere to health and safety regulations.
  • Provide training and support to production staff on new processes, equipment, or changes.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production throughput, crane utilisation, downtime, and defect rates.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Production Process Engineer role is a self-starter who can work independently and drive improvements with minimal supervision. You bring a proven track record of analysing, improving, and documenting manufacturing processes. Your familiarity with industrial machinery, chemical processes, automation systems, and production technologies used in galvanizing will be essential for success in this role. Additionally, your excellent verbal and written communication skills will enable you to liaise effectively with internal teams from Operator to General Manager level and external suppliers.

  • Proven ability to analyse, improve, and document manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams at all levels.
  • Familiarity with industrial machinery, chemical processes, automation systems, and production technologies used in galvanizing.
  • Good understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
