Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Machining

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer from a CNC machining background to join a successful engineering company in the Midlands. Our client designs and manufactures high spec, precision machined components for highly regulated industries.
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will support and mentor Programmers and will lead NPI and improvement projects. An opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects and join a company who can offer realistic opportunities for professional development.
Key tasks:
- Lead or contribute to complex technical projects to ensure timely and cost-effective solutions for manufacture
- Define production solutions and equipment requirements
- Provide manufacturing decision-making information by; reading engineering drawings, calculating production times, labour, material costs and reviewing production schedules
- Evaluate and improve CNC manufacturing process by applying expert knowledge of machining processes (multi-axis), cutting tools and materials to improve cycle times and reduce costs
- Develop and validate robust processes
- Introduce best practice and establish procedures to improve processes
- Lead improvement initiatives
Knowledge and experience required:
- Apprentice trained Engineer with HNC/HND qualification
- In-depth knowledge of complex manufacturing processes in a small component, precision machining environment; medical device, aerospace, automotive, defence
- CNC programming; 3, 4 & 5 Axis machining
- Knowledge/experience of metallics
- Ability to plan jobs from engineering drawings to finished product
- Project management capabilities
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Improvement mindset
