This position is vital in providing focused assistance to students with behavioural challenges, enabling them to thrive both academically and socially.

About the Role:

As a Behaviour Support Mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with behavioural challenges, helping them to engage positively with their education and develop essential social skills. The role involves implementing behaviour management plans, supporting students both inside and outside the classroom and helping them develop positive social and academic skills.

Behaviour Support Mentor Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with behavioural challenges, helping them to manage their behaviour and engage effectively in classroom activities.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and interventions tailored to the individual needs of students.
  • Assist teachers in developing and maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Monitor and record student behaviour, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents and relevant professionals.
  • Support the development and implementation of Individual Behaviour Plans (IBPs) and personalised support strategies.
  • Foster a positive and supportive relationship with students, encouraging their social and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with the wider school team to promote a consistent approach to behaviour management.

Behaviour Support Mentor Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience with ASD, ADHD, disabilities, SEMH and SEND or in a similar role within an education or support setting.
  • Have profound knowledge of SEND and behaviour management strategies and effective techniques to support students with challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and families.
  • Patience, empathy and a commitment to providing high-quality support to students with diverse needs.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach.
