Commissioning Technicians - Rolling Stock (rail) - Wolverhampton - Contract PositionsRate: £28.85 PAYE / £37.00 UmbrellaShifts: Double Days (Morning and Afternoons)-Shifts 1 week of Mornings (06:00 - 15:00) - 1 week of Afternoons (12:00 - 21:00)-Monday to Friday mostly, some weekends every now and then to cover workload.Start Date: ASAPDuration: 6 monthsIndustry experience Considered:Rail, Rolling Stock, RAF, REME, Army, Navy, Marine, Avionics, Commercial/Industrial Electrics, Defence.Disciplines Considered:Diesel Engine Fitter, Electrical Engineer / Mechanical Engineer, Avionic TechnicianAircraft Engineer, Marine Engineer, Maintenance Fitter, Breakdown Engineer.Position Summary:Join our dynamic technical team as a Commissioning Technician, where you'll be at the forefront of maintaining and repairing trains. You'll engage in both mechanical and electrical maintenance, with a focus on high safety standards. Your role will involve:Inspecting and maintaining critical train systems such as TPWS, AWS, PIS, Traction, braking, doors, radios, CCTVs, HVAC units, DOO systems, and MVB.Utilising manufacturer-supplied software to diagnose and program parts.Documenting faults and preparing reports for warranty claims.Collaborating with reliability engineers and clients to enhance fleet performance.Conducting thorough inspections to ensure fleet reliability.Key Responsibilities:Performing train preparation checks and braking tests.Assisting in detailed fault finding and diagnostics.Repairing and testing HVAC systems.Conducting repairs and calibrations on door systems.Testing Wifi and CCTV systems.Executing rewires and electrical component replacements.Implementing GSMR modifications.Replacing mechanical components.Downloading and analysing train data using diagnostic software.Updating system software as necessary.Contributing to Health and Safety initiatives daily.Qualifications:NVQ Level 3 in electrical engineer or high voltage (400v or higher)Minimum NVQ Level 3 in an electrical discipline.Person Profile:Extensive electrical experience in Rail Rolling Stock DMU or EMU, or on Forces Vehicles (Aircraft, Armoured Vehicles, etc.).Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Proficient in using laptops and diagnostic tools for fault identification.Capable of interpreting maintenance manuals and schematics.Experienced in mechanical or electrical fault finding and repairs.Interview Process:Face-to-face interviewTrade testWritten electrical and mechanical testsImportant Note:All applicants must pass a drugs and alcohol test before being offered a position.
