Job Purpose

Tripod are seeking a dedicated Educational Psychologist to provide psychological services to the Council, schools, and other agencies, supporting the needs of children, young people, and families. This role involves delivering specialist psychological assessments, interventions, and consultations within a multiagency team setting to enhance the educational, social, and personal development of young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver psychological services to children, families, and schools within the community.
  • Conduct assessments and interventions with individuals and groups, providing insights and strategies to support their development.
  • Collaborate effectively within a multiagency area team, contributing to a holistic approach in addressing the needs of children.
  • Provide expertise and support to schools and professionals on best practices in educational psychology.
  • Develop and implement programs that aid in the educational and social inclusion of young people with special needs.

Qualifications:

  • A good honours degree in Psychology or equivalent.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Educational Psychology (or working towards).
  • Eligibility for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) (or working towards).

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of psychological principles relevant to educational psychology.
  • Proficiency in assessment and intervention techniques for working with children and young people.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to relate sensitively to young people, parents, and professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Experience:

  • Experience working with children and families, particularly in areas of specialism.
  • Background in developing intervention programs and delivering psychological support.
  • Previous experience as an educational psychologist or trainee, with a proven record in casework, advisory roles, and research.

Desirable Criteria

  • Additional accredited postgraduate qualifications.
  • Experience in multi-agency or multidisciplinary team settings.
  • Teaching experience in various educational settings.
  • Knowledge of the responsibilities and structures of agencies involved with young people.
