Cooper Lomaz is recruiting on behalf of a leading organisation for an experienced Buyer to join their operations team. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to procurement processes in a dynamic manufacturing and production environment.

Role Overview:As a Buyer, you will be responsible for coordinating procurement activities, including supplier selection, negotiation, and ensuring timely delivery of quality materials and services. You will play a critical role in maintaining cost-effective and efficient purchasing strategies.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Maintain procurement records, tracking purchases, costs, delivery schedules, and inventory
  • Place purchase orders for engineering materials, component parts, fabrications, and peripheral items
  • Competitively bid product lines, negotiating prices, contract terms, and delivery schedules
  • Expedite orders, ensuring timely delivery and accurate reporting on supplier performance
  • Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues and non-conforming materials
  • Review bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budget and programme requirements
  • Assist with goods-inwards processes and liaise with internal teams to maintain procurement efficiency
  • Address invoice queries in collaboration with the Accounts department

Required Skills:

  • Accredited qualification in Procurement (MCIPS) or relevant experience in a manufacturing or design environment
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other MS Office applications
  • Experience with NEC3-type contracts
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities

Desired Skills:

  • Ability to mentor and train team members
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to manage supplier queries effectively

Experience:

  • Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and production environments - Ideally Nuclear

Shift Pattern:

  • Monday to Friday, standard business hours
