Role Overview
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience managing the commercial aspects of high-rise social housing projects while working closely with senior quantity surveyors and project managers. You will play an integral part in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation:

  • Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates and budgets for high-rise social housing projects.
  • Monitor project costs and ensure alignment with approved budgets.
  • Support the preparation and approval of valuations, variations, and final accounts.

Contract Support:

  • Assist in drafting and managing contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure contract documentation is accurate and compliant with requirements.
  • Help manage contract variations and assist with dispute resolution when necessary.

Procurement:

  • Support the procurement process, including tender preparation, analysis, and supplier negotiations.
  • Help source and manage subcontractors and suppliers to ensure quality, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.

Reporting:

  • Contribute to the preparation of detailed commercial reports for senior management.
  • Assist in tracking financial performance, including forecasting and cash flow management.
  • Participate in regular financial reviews and audits to ensure accuracy and accountability.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with senior quantity surveyors to learn and develop your skills.
  • Collaborate with project managers and on-site teams to facilitate smooth project delivery.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, sharing insights and contributing to problem-solving discussions.

Requirements


Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Experience with high-rise residential or social housing projects is advantageous but not essential.

Skills:

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and other relevant software tools.
  • Eagerness to learn and progress within the role.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Working towards professional membership with RICS or equivalent is encouraged.
