What You'll Do:As a Family Support Worker, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Provide direct support to children, young people, adoptive families, and birth families, both individually and in groups.
  • Prepare children for adoption and help them navigate transitions, ensuring they feel supported every step of the way.
  • Engage in life story work and compile meaningful Life Story Books that honour each child's unique journey.
  • Conduct multi-agency assessments to identify adoption support needs and develop tailored support plans.
  • Plan and supervise post-adoption contact, ensuring high-quality, safe interactions between adopted children and their birth families.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Facilitating group work and support sessions to empower families.
  • Collaborating with professionals to assess and meet the needs of children and adoptive parents.
  • Maintaining accurate records and providing written reports as necessary.
  • Attending relevant meetings, including court sessions, to advocate for the best interests of children and families.
  • Adopting a restorative practise approach, promoting sensitivity, inclusivity, and cultural awareness in all interactions.
