Are you an experienced and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with severe learning difficulties (SLD)? A welcoming primary school in Wolverhampton is seeking a dedicated individual to join their team and work 1:1 with a Key Stage 1 (KS1) child who requires tailored support.

About the Role:This full-time position involves working closely with a KS1 pupil with severe learning difficulties. The child is often out of class and can display disruptive behaviour, requiring a calm, patient, and resilient approach. You will play a vital role in supporting their educational, emotional, and social development, helping them to engage with learning in a way that suits their unique needs. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in a child's life while working in a supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a KS1 child with severe learning difficulties.
  • Implement strategies to manage and de-escalate disruptive behaviour.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider team to support the child's individual education plan (IEP).
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist with personal care and daily routines as required.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience working with children with severe learning difficulties (SLD).
  • Exceptional patience, resilience, and a calm demeanour under pressure.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to meeting the child's needs.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent) are desirable but not essential if experience is substantial.
