Job Purpose and Role

As a Swimming Instructor, you'll play a vital role in delivering engaging and effective swimming classes that cater to all skill levels. You'll be instrumental in promoting water safety and helping participants progress towards recognised swimming awards while ensuring a fun and safe environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach with Purpose: Lead designated groups at the appropriate skill levels, ensuring classes begin on time and managing late arrivals with diplomacy.
  • Financial Compliance: Confirm that all participants have paid the necessary fees before classes commence, in line with council regulations.
  • Programme Development: Assist the Aquatics Leader in designing courses that encourage natural progression towards swimming awards.
  • Safety First: Uphold all health and safety protocols and promptly report any concerns to the Duty Officer.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Be ready to provide first aid and handle emergencies, ensuring all incidents are reported with the necessary documentation.
  • Equipment Management: Oversee the use and return of all swimming equipment, conducting weekly inspections and reporting any repair needs.

  • Strong commitment to safety and the ability to handle emergencies calmly.
  • Excellent communication skills to provide feedback and address customer inquiries.
