Overview:
As a Tool Maker, you’ll be at the heart of our operations, responsible for the repair and maintenance of both Hot and Cold Stamp tooling within set timeframes. You’ll be key in ensuring the smooth running of production by performing essential repairs, troubleshooting, and providing ongoing support. Responsibilities of the Tool Maker:

  • Carry out repairs and maintenance of all tooling, ensuring no adverse effects on cost depreciation or tool performance.
  • Complete all tasks within the required timeframes set by production and customer needs.
  • Keep meticulous records of all completed work, including Tooling Repair Requests and Tooling Record updates.
  • Collaborate closely with shift managers and press technicians to address any issues promptly and effectively.
  • Determine whether repairs can be made in-press or if tools need to be removed for more extensive maintenance.
  • Estimate the time required for each job and plan accordingly to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Monitor critical tooling spares and maintain awareness of inventory levels.

Key Requirements:

  • Ideally, you’ll have an engineering qualification or apprenticeship in a related field.
  • A strong understanding of health and safety standards in the workplace.
  • Prior experience operating potentially hazardous machinery.
  • Experience in fault finding and resolving tooling issues effectively.
  • Experience in Die Dismantling, Crane Slinging, Gas Spring Maintenance, and Welding (Mig, Tig).
  • Hands-on expertise in Transfer and Hot Stamping Forming.
  • Crane and FLT Licenses are desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
