NexGen Consultancy are currently recruiting for a 5 Axis Programmer to join a well established CNC manufacturer located in High Wycombe.

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced5-AxisHypermillProgrammerto join our team, specializing in programming and operatingMikron CNC milling machines. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and optimizing CNC programs for complex 5-axis machining operations usingHypermillCAM software. This role requires a high level of technical expertise in precision machining, knowledge of toolpaths, and experience working with tight tolerances in a fast-paced, high-quality manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Creation: Develop, test, and optimize CNC programs usingHypermillCAM software for 5-axis Mikron milling machines.
  • Toolpath Optimization: Generate efficient and accurate toolpaths to meet production requirements, ensuring high-quality surface finishes and dimensional accuracy.
  • Machine Setup & Operation: Set up Mikron 5-axis CNC milling machines, including tool selection, fixture setup, and initial job run-offs.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate machining processes to improve efficiency, reduce cycle time, and maintain quality standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, machinists, and quality control teams to ensure the successful production of complex parts.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve machining and programming issues to maintain uninterrupted production.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of programs, setup sheets, tooling lists, and process improvements.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all machined components meet stringent quality and tolerance specifications, conducting in-process inspections when necessary.
  • Maintenance: Monitor the condition of machines and perform routine maintenance to minimize downtime.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3years of experience in CNC programming withHypermillCAM software, specifically for 5-axis operations.
  • Machine Knowledge: Hands-on experience withMikronor similar 5-axis CNC machines.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient inHypermillCAM software for 5-axis programming.
    • Strong knowledge of G-code and machine setup.
    • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software, tolerancing, and blueprint reading.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for CNC programming and machining issues.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to work with tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
  • Communication: Excellent teamwork and communication skills for collaborating across departments.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with other CAM software or multi-axis CNC machines.
  • Familiarity with Siemens or Heidenhain CNC controls.
  • Knowledge of advanced machining techniques such as high-speed machining, 3+2 axis machining, and simultaneous 5-axis cutting.
