  • Salary: Up to £42,000 + shift allowance 
  • Shift pattern: Monday to Friday early , lates and nights, NO WEEKENDS - 1 week rotating 

We are seeking a dedicated Shift Maintenance Engineer to join our production team. This role is essential for ensuring that our production operations run seamlessly 24 hours a day. The successful candidate will be responsible for addressing engineering maintenance and process issues during shifts, aiding in the implementation of new equipment, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The position offers a competitive salary and operates on a rotating shift pattern (Early, lates and nights, NO WEEKENDS)

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for operators when process equipment issues arise during shift hours.
  • Support production shift team leaders with their daily engineering needs, ensuring all issues are resolved efficiently and effectively.
  • Conduct daily planned preventative maintenance activities and proficiently use and help develop the site’s computer engineering maintenance management system.
  • Perform unplanned maintenance and repairs to ensure optimum production run time during shifts.
  • Engage in fault finding on equipment to identify root causes, not just symptoms.
  • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment.
  • Identify and implement improvements to equipment and processes.
  • Build strong working relationships across departments.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation.
  • Provide training and mentoring to production operatives and apprentices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Formal apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications in electrical, mechanical, and/or maintenance engineering.
  • Experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
  • 18th Edition qualification is desirable, or competence with single-phase supplies and equipment.
  • Familiarity with three-phase systems, motor starters, control panels, and motors.
  • Experience with variable speed drives is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Understanding of bearings and drive transmission systems.
  • Proficiency in disassembling and assembling machinery and equipment components.
  • Ability to independently resolve complex technical problems quickly.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with polymer processing technology is an advantage.
  • Computer literacy, competent with Microsoft Word and Excel, and experience with computer maintenance management systems (Pirana preferred).
