School Caretaker

- Working Hours: 12pm - 7pm, Monday to Friday
We are seeking a dedicated School Caretaker to join our team in Essex / East London. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the school premises, ensuring a safe and clean environment for staff and students. This role requires a proactive individual who takes pride in their work and can manage a variety of tasks efficiently.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Conduct regular inspections of the school premises to identify maintenance needs.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, carpentry, and painting.
- Ensure the security of the school buildings by managing access points and key distribution.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the school grounds, including litter picking and managing waste disposal.
- Set up furniture and equipment for school events and rearrange as required.
- Liaise with external contractors for specialised maintenance work.
- Respond to emergency call-outs and resolve issues promptly.
- Monitor heating and lighting systems to ensure they are functioning correctly and efficiently.
- Adhere to health and safety policies and report any concerns to the school management.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in caretaking or facilities maintenance.
- Good practical skills in handling repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A willingness to undergo a DBS check.
