SEND tutor - KS1 - SEND Tutor (Pathological Demand Avoidance expert)

Ackerman Pierce work closely with County Councils and Schools to provide one to one tutoring for children waiting for school placements or who are unable to be in mainstream school. The children we are looking to support have a range of additional complex needs and so we are seeking experienced SEN Tutors / SEN Teachers / Teachers / Tutors / HLTA's.

We are currently recruiting for KS1-KS2 teachers / tutors to provide provision to a specific student based in Woodford Green. Ideally we need a primary trained qualified SEND teacher, to support an EOTAS package, to deliver appropriate education, including mentoring, therapeutic approaches, and additional activities beyond academic activities - catered to the individual child's needs and interests.

This young person is autistic, and a demand avoidance profile, so prior experience supporting similar needs is required.

  • Location - Woodford Green
  • Position - 1:1 Tutor
  • Start date - ASAP
  • End date - EOTAS package in place, so likely to be at least for this full academic year
  • Contract type - Temporary
  • Typical Hours - 3 hours daily for this young person - 5 days per week (Monday - Friday) - most tutors work with 2-3 students daily, so up to 35 hours weekly on offer
  • Rate of pay - from £30 per hour for unqualifued tutors with ASD and PDA experience. Up to £50 per hour for SEND Teachers with QTS
  • Term Time Only
  • During School Hours Only

We are looking for candidates who are:-

  • Available during school hours up to 30 hours per week.
  • Experienced in delivering differentiated National Curriculum core subjects.
  • Experience teaching young people with a wide range of complex and challenging needs including ASD + PDA
  • Exceptional behaviour management strategies.
  • Prepared to work face to face within the community or family home.

Requirements

  • Background teaching in English, Maths or SEN classes
  • QTS status (or equivalent) or unqualified with two years' experience teaching NC core subjects
  • Experience working with SEMH/ASD/PDA/EBD/SEMH and associated complex needs.
  • 2 years previous experience working within a UK school.
