An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to join a prestigious automotive company known for its meticulous restoration and customisation of classic high-performance vehicles. Our client is renowned for delivering bespoke commissions to a global clientele and showcasing their work at prestigious automotive events and publications.

This role is perfect for a detail-oriented individual with a passion for quality and continuous improvement, especially if you have experience with carbon fibre components.

About the Supplier Quality Engineer role:

As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of quality across the supply chain. You will be responsible for managing supplier quality concerns, supporting new part introductions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Supplier Development Manager, you will collaborate closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to uphold the commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy and Development:

  • Support the implementation of best practice quality strategies, processes, and procedures to enhance operational performance.
  • Contribute to new business initiatives, assessing the impact on Supplier Quality activities.

Day-to-Day:

  • Manage supplier quality concern resolution for current production and new programmes.
  • Prepare regular reports, including action plans, supplier development plans, and Corrective and Preventive Action Reports (CCARs).
  • Conduct supplier site assessments to support ongoing production and upcoming projects.
  • Develop and implement supplier development plans in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee the introduction of new parts and/or new suppliers, coordinating with Engineering, Procurement, and Material Control teams.
  • Ensure all supplier visits are documented, and action items are followed up to completion.
  • Provide support for current production issues, working closely with the Supplier Quality Engineer and management team to minimise impact.


Quality Tools:

  • Utilise various quality tools, including 8D, FMEA, Control Plans, Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Review and collaborate on supplier manufacturing processes, identifying opportunities for process improvement and value enhancement.
  • Experience with carbon fibre components and manufacturing processes is highly desirable, bringing added value to the role.


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of diverse commodities and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in using PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning).
  • Significant experience in supplier development within a low-volume automotive environment, preferably with OEM or 1st Tier suppliers.
  • Experience with carbon fibre and composite materials is a strong advantage.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification or experience with DMAIC problem-solving methodology is preferred.
  • Full UK driving licence is essential.
