Approach Personnel are partnering with our long standing client to recruit a Health and Safety Manager. As a Health and Safety Manager, your responsibility is to provide effective guidance and support to their site delivery construction teams on a number of variety of construction contracts. This is an integral position of ensuring the successful delivery of the projects.

Duties

• Provide effective health, safety and environmental support and guidance to their site team to ensure a safe working environment without risk to health, safety, or harm to the environment.

• Conduct regular HSE site tours and inspections ensuring personnel are working in accordance with the Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan and Method Statements and Risk Assessments

• Conduct incident investigations and associated reports,  work in close collaboration with the clients SHE team ensuring set HSE standards and goals are met.

• Conduct Site Inductions, maintain the Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan, closely support the HSE Administrator, review and maintain general project HSE documentation.

• Compile and circulate topical toolbox talks and health, safety and environmental alerts, produce monthly HSE reports for the Company Health & Safety Manager

• Establish and maintain a team programme of documented health & safety inspections and site tours, ensuring engagement at all levels.

About You

Essential

  • Experience in the delivery of Health & Safety services and will have a background in construction/building industry, experience on bulk earthworks would be particularly desirable.
  • You will hold a NEBOSH General, Construction Certificate or above qualification and have a strong understanding of the CDM regulations.
  • You will have construction and major civil engineering experience obtained from a previously held site-based role.
  • Experience reviewing site health, safety and environmental documentation, alongside excellent working knowledge and understanding of current Health and Safety Legislation

Desirable

  • Operational experience of ensuring compliance with: ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001
  • Auditing & Inspection skills
  • Incident investigation and reporting
  • Experience in writing and reviewing health, safety and environmental procedures, sound knowledge of current HSE Legislation

Qualifications or accreditations required for the role:

  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety
  • IEMA or NEBOSH environmental
  • Valid CSCS card holder
  • Tech Member of IOSH or above/ other professional organisations
  • Full UK driving licence
