Assured Safety Recruitment is pleased to be partnering with a highly regarded civil engineering contractor as they expand their Health & Safety team. We are seeking a skilled and proactive SHEQ Advisor to support sites across the Anglia region, playing a pivotal role in the provision of operational SHEQ assistance.
Reporting directly to the SHEQ Manager, this role is predominantly site-based and will involve the following key responsibilities:
- Providing comprehensive SHEQ support to both site and operational management teams
- Conducting thorough inspections of sites and depot facilities to ensure full compliance with both legal and internal standards
- Identifying areas for improvement and liaising with site management teams to implement corrective actions
- Contributing to the continuous development of the SHEQ management system and associated procedures
- Delivering SHEQ training sessions and toolbox talks as required
- Issuing and distributing Safety Alerts in response to emerging risks or incidents
- Developing PowerPoint presentations and assisting in the delivery of monthly stand-down meetings, including the presentation of relevant statistics and data
- Attending safety meetings as required
- Performing unannounced, cause-related, and post-incident drug and alcohol testing
- Supporting the development of behavioural strategies to reinforce the organisation’s SHEQ initiatives and fostering a positive safety culture across sites
- Leading investigations into accidents, incidents, and service strikes, ensuring thorough reporting and analysis
- Reviewing, updating, and revising controlled documents in alignment with the quality management system and client specifications
- Issuing appointment letters for Temporary Works Co-ordinators/Supervisors following training and new appointments
- Providing cover for the SHEQ Manager during holiday periods and as required
The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in a SHEQ Advisor role, ideally within the civil engineering sector. You will hold a NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum Health & Safety qualification, along with a robust understanding of the CDM Regulations and Temporary Works.
As a substantial proportion of the role involves travel to construction sites across East Anglia, a full, valid driving licence is required.
