Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior Estimator to lead the civils estimating department.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a Senior Estmator within the Civils sector and will bring leadership and organisation to the department. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source suitable tender opportunities.
  • To submit timely and accurate quotations that result in successful work orders at a pre-agreed profit margin.
  • Identify key supply chain partners and undertake price analysis.
  • To be an advocate of the company mission statement and support the values of the business
  • Management of Contract Administrator.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers including price negotiations to provide best value.

 

Key tasks:

  • Review tender documentation and conduct thorough project requirements and specifications.
  • Production of pricing cost control matrices to establish demonstration of rates.
  • Identification of alternative, suitable supply chain products through active market research and meetings.
  • Recording the outcome of tender submissions, results and chasing feedback from clients.
  • Setting up project files following successful project award in readiness for hand over to the operations team.
  • Support the team with quality bid submissions.
  • Use various online portals to regularly research suitable opportunities.
  • Conduct site visits and client meetings during the tender, pre-start and construction phases of schemes.
  • Invoice checks and approvals.
  • Secure materials and place purchase orders ensuring lead times are taken into consideration.
  • Assist the Head of Department in assessing the required resource levels associated with a project and ring fence them.
  • Work closely with senior management and other members of the project team to refine and adjust estimates as needed.
  • Utilise estimating software and tools to enhance precision in cost calculations.
