A Day in the Life in a drug and alcohol team:

• Responsibility for the clinical management and substitute prescribing (Opiate Substitute Therapy) of a caseload of service users including specialist assessment, collaborative care planning, risk management, review and evaluation;

• Developing strength-based, safe prescribing plans for substance use treatment that are; comprehensive, personcentered and individualised based on a clear assessment of the service user's needs and circumstances;

• Utilising psychosocial interventions (1:2:1 and group);

• Decision making and management of supervised consumption/pick up frequency taking into consideration clinical safety and cost effectiveness;

• Assessing for, prescribing and overseeing the safe management of medically assisted community alcohol detoxifications;

• Supporting with assessment for inpatient detoxification and residential rehabilitation;

• Adhering to titration procedures to safely initiate substitute prescribing;

 

Requirements and qualifications required for this role:

  • Current and valid registration with the NMC.
  • Proven experience within a drug and alcohol service 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
