Job Overview

Our client is looking for a skilled Engineer to support the design, planning and delivery of residential developments in the region. This role with play a crucial role in ensuring the successful completion of infrastructure, groundworks, and structural engineering solutions for housing projects. This role will involve collaboration with design teams, contractors, and local authorities to ensure all technical requirements are met, and developments are delivered efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Technical Input:

  • Develop engineering solutions for roads, drainage, foundations, and utilities for residential housing developments.
  • Provide technical advice and expertise on civil and structural engineering elements.
  • Review and approve designs and technical drawings to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and project specifications.
  • Use design tools such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D to produce layouts and details where required.

Project Management:

  • Manage the technical aspects of housing projects, from initial concept through to construction handover.
  • Work closely with the Land and Planning teams during site appraisals, ensuring feasibility and identifying potential engineering challenges.
  • Oversee engineering consultants and contractors to ensure project timelines and deliverables are met.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure all designs comply with UK Building Regulations, NHBC standards, and local authority planning conditions.
  • Liaise with local councils, water authorities, and other statutory bodies to secure technical approvals such as S278, S38, and S104 agreements.

Problem Solving & Value Engineering:

  • Address engineering challenges on-site and implement effective solutions to maintain project progress.
  • Identify and implement value engineering opportunities to optimize costs without compromising quality.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work closely with architects, construction teams, and other internal departments to coordinate engineering requirements and ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Engage with external consultants, contractors, and utility providers to manage design and installation schedules.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential:

  • Degree or HND/HNC in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in residential housing development or civil engineering projects.
  • Strong knowledge of roads and drainage design, utilities coordination, and infrastructure development.
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroDrainage.
  • Familiarity with UK Building Regulations, NHBC standards, and relevant planning processes.
