Role DescriptionThe organisation operates in the Financial Services and Wealth Management sector.As Head of Data, you will lead a skilled team of data engineers and analysts, focusing on developing and delivering data solutions that drive business success. Your role will be key in improving our data systems, helping both the business and our clients make informed decisions. This position gives you the chance to shape the data strategy of a growing company, with a focus on innovation and future growth.Main duties and responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing data team, supporting their professional development and promoting a collaborative and results-driven environment.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business challenges and translate them into actionable, data-driven solutions.
  • Work alongside the Data Architect to implement a comprehensive data strategy that enhances our technical capabilities and supports the business's growth objectives.
  • Oversee the design and execution of data pipelines, models, ETL processes, and analytics frameworks to ensure scalable, high-quality data solutions.
  • Establish and enforce robust data governance policies to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage data retention policies and ensure their consistent implementation across the organisation.
  • Contribute to innovation projects, developing unique data-driven solutions that distinguish our services in the market.
  • Continuously engage with stakeholders to assess satisfaction levels and drive improvements in the data services delivered.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory data obligations, particularly in relation to third-party providers managing client data.
  • Evaluate and integrate the data capabilities of acquired businesses to ensure smooth transitions and alignment with our existing systems.
Essential Experience & Skills:
  • Proven experience in building and leading data teams, with a focus on professional development and team collaboration.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools, business intelligence platforms, and data visualisation software.
  • Expertise in Azure cloud engineering, data lakes, ETL solutions, and SQL.
  • Comprehensive understanding of data governance, data security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders empathetically and influence decisions at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through change, with a proactive and adaptable approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working within an agile framework, with a focus on testing, refining, and scaling solutions.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience working within financial or professional services.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric data analytics platform and Snowflake for data management.
