We are seeking a talented and experienced Finance Manager to join a growing SME manufacturing business based in Worcester. As the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the business, ensuring financial accuracy, and providing strategic insights to support decision-making.
In this role, you will work closely with senior management, ensuring that financial processes, reporting, and controls are robust while supporting the company’s continued growth and operational success. This position is ideal for someone with a solid background in finance, eager to take on a broader range of responsibilities within a close-knit team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the financial operations of the business, including monthly management accounts, forecasting, and budgeting.
- Provide key financial analysis to support decision-making, highlighting key trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction or revenue enhancement.
- Supervise the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Monitor cash flow and working capital, ensuring efficient cash management and timely payments to suppliers.
- Lead the month-end close process, ensuring that all accounting records are accurate and deadlines are met.
- Coordinate and manage external audits, ensuring compliance with relevant financial reporting standards.
- Provide financial insights to senior management to help drive business strategy and improve profitability.
- Review and improve internal controls, systems, and processes to ensure financial accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, including VAT and payroll.
- Support with the preparation of management reports for investors, senior management, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and manage a small finance team, providing leadership and support as the company grows.
Key Requirements:
- ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification (or significant relevant experience).
- Proven experience in financial management, ideally within a manufacturing or SME environment.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including management accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Excellent Excel and financial modeling skills.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing costs, cost accounting, and financial analysis in a production environment.
- Experience managing cash flow, working capital, and financial controls.
- The ability to present complex financial information in an understandable way to non-financial stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Proactive, hands-on approach with a focus on process improvements and driving efficiency.
- Previous experience working in a small or mid-sized business would be advantageous.
