Tutor | Worcester | £26.62 per hour | Flexible hours per week

SMART Education are looking for a committed and experienced SEN Tutor with a real passion to support vulnerable, at risk and disengaged learners with their core-subjects! The tuition is required to increase engagement in education across core subjects

You will be working 1:1 with this young person therefore it is vital that you are confident in your ability to differentiate and deliver 1:1 tuition lessons to meet the young person’s needs. You will be provided with 1-2 hours of planning and preparation time per week.

You will be required to:

  • Create a calm and positive learning environment
  • Build a strong rapport with both the young person and their families
  • Planning lesson plans and activities for the tuition sessions to ensure that the curriculum is covered sufficiently
  • Support a young person with complex needs; differentiating lesson/activities
  • Complete a home tuition report after sessions that outlines progress of the student

Person Specification:

  • A creative and versatile teaching style Professional Teaching Qualifications (QTS / QTLS / PGCE), Subject Specialism or extensive tuition experience supporting with English, Maths and/or Science
  • Experience, Knowledge and Understanding of working with children/young people with additional learning needs (SEN/SEMH/ASD/Speech and Language Delay)
  • Experience and understanding of strategies on how to manage challenging behaviour / self-regulate emotions
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to acquire one
  • Experience, Knowledge and Understanding of Safeguarding practices
