Grounds Maintenance Operative
- Hours:Â Monday - Thursday: 7.5 hours, Friday: 7 hours

- Salary: £24,127 / pro rata temporary 3 months rolling
Job Purpose
As a Grounds Maintenance Operative, you will report to the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor and are tasked with delivering high-standard, customer-focused estate services. This includes gardening, garden clearance, and grounds maintenance across various properties, adhering to service specifications and work schedules. You will also undertake seasonal external maintenance work such as hard landscaping or fencing repairs, contributing to the sustainability and aesthetic standards of the neighbourhoods.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Perform gardening services including grass cutting, clearance, planting, weeding, and maintaining shrub areas using both hand tools and mechanical horticultural appliances.
- Execute external maintenance tasks such as slab repairs and fencing within set timescales.
- Deliver excellent customer service, handle enquiries professionally, and direct complex issues to relevant colleagues.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to share information, implement best practices, and continuously improve service quality.
- Compile accurate performance or completion information as required by management.
- Adhere to all health and safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment and compliance with risk assessments.
- Participate in safeguarding training, recognize potential cases of abuse or neglect, and follow appropriate safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Seek opportunities for personal development to enhance skills and knowledge, aiming to improve customer satisfaction and achieve performance targets.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in grounds maintenance or a similar role.
- Familiarity with gardening and external maintenance tasks.
- Competence in using horticultural tools and machinery.
- Strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Basic IT skills to operate mobile technology and equipment.
