Automation Support Engineer

A business I'm working closely with are looking for an Automation Support Engineer to enhance automation systems performance, focusing on Allen Bradley - PLCs. This role involves providing technical support, managing automation projects, and driving system improvements.

The business itself are one of leading FMCG manufacturers, with mutltiple sites acros the UK. With sites abroad as well, there is continuous investment and project on going, so there's lot to keep you busy!

 

You would need to be able to do the following:

  • Provide reactive support for automation issues with a structured problem-solving approach.
  • Manage and lead site-level automation projects from conception to completion.
  • Support site-wide and centrally delivered Capex projects with automation expertise.
  • Maintain software and documentation version control for automation systems.
  • Collaborate with the Automation Development team to ensure compliance with group standards.
  • Manage obsolescence and focus on improving control systems (VSDs, servo drives, instrumentation).
  • Analyze performance data to enhance efficiency and production operability.
  • Oversee the site panel risk assessment register and ensure regular system health checks.
  • Provide specialist automation support for site improvement initiatives and quality improvements.

As an Automartion Engineer you'd need have the following experience and knowledge;

  • Strong experience with Allen Bradley PLCs.
  • Electrical skills and ability to work independently on projects.
  • Experience in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • IT literate with the ability to provide on-the-job training.
