About the Role:

We are seeking a Fully Qualified, ambitious and detail-driven Financial Controller to join our dynamic team. As a key player within the business, you will collaborate directly with the Managing Director to steer the financial strategy of our rapidly growing manufacturing and retail business, as we expand into international markets. A fantastic opportunity to drive the financial success of the business, ensuring accurate financial reporting and contributing to strategic decisions that impact our future growth.

The Company:

We are based in West Cumbria, with an excellent production facility which is currently being expanded due to organic growth as well as the introduction of new products and expanding markets. Our team is focused on innovation, quality, and delivering exceptional products across multiple platforms, including retail and eCommerce.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage daily financial operations within the accounting department.
  • Prepare and present monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) to senior management.
  • Produce monthly management accounts and variance analysis, identifying key trends and providing insights into financial performance.
  • Drive budgeting and forecasting, ensuring alignment with the company’s growth objectives.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose financial improvements.
  • Identify and manage the application of local and global business grants.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and audits.
  • Manage R&D claims and maintain compliance with evolving financial regulations.
  • Collaborate with and external accountants & auditors to ensure smooth and compliant audit processes.
  • Manage and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.

Requirements:

  • Fully Qualified Accountant, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, regulations, and reporting standards.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and ERP accounting software.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically.
  • Ability to work independently and to deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
