Deputy Site Manager

We are looking for a dedicated Deputy Site Manager to join anrecycling facility in the Lake District . This role is essential for ensuring the precision and compliance of waste-related data and supporting the management of site operations. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining commercial and environmental compliance, optimising operational processes, and safeguarding the safety and well-being of all site personnel.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Prepare and manage waste documentation and labels, ensuring compliance with hazardous loads requirements.
  • Conduct pre-acceptance and pre-shipment procedures for incoming and outgoing waste batteries.
  • Coordinate with the transport department to service household waste collection batteries with appropriate commercials and compliance.
  • Record and report data on incoming, sorted, and outgoing batteries, maintaining data integrity and environmental regulation adherence.
  • Produce periodic reports for commercial and compliance purposes, including monthly customer reports and quarterly Environmental Agency submissions.
  • Respond to customer audits and liaise with customers, local authorities, compliance schemes, and regulatory bodies regarding waste data.
  • Raise accurate invoices based on recorded data and ensure financial aspects align with site operations.
  • Direct vehicles to authorised areas and manage incoming load bookings for efficient site operations.
  • Support the Site Manager in overseeing site safety, operations, and staff training.
  • Maintain product quality and data integrity, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Provide leadership in the Site Manager’s absence and assist in the recruitment of site personnel.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in waste management is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations and compliance.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented with excellent data management skills.
  • Proactive with a positive attitude and solution-finding mentality.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in data recording and reporting software.
  • Ability to balance data responsibilities with operational oversight.
  • Strong leadership qualities and capable of managing site operations.
  • Relevant qualifications in waste management or environmental science are desirable.

Limits of Authority:
  • Lead relationships with customers and external parties relevant to site operations without prior approval.
  • Hiring or dismissal of site staff requires consultation with HR and line manager.
  • Standard decisions in line with procedures and guidelines are within your remit; other decisions should be referred to the line manager.
