Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver self-checked design deliverables within agreed timescales.
  • Provide technical advice on design and engineering matters.
  • Create 3D mechanical designs using Autodesk Inventor, including models, part drawings, and assembly drawings.
  • Develop 2D mechanical designs using AutoCAD, including layouts, part drawings, and assembly drawings.
  • Produce mechanical flow diagrams, ventilation flow diagrams, process flow diagrams, and mechanical sequence diagrams.
  • Generate supporting design documents such as installation method statements, risk assessments, and scoping calculations.
  • Participate in formal design processes including optioneering, design reviews, HAZOP, and constructability reviews.
  • Amend and modify design deliverables as needed.
  • Engage in business development activities, identifying new projects and drafting technical responses for tenders and bids.
  • Mentor junior staff, sharing knowledge and expertise.

Skills & Experience

  • Engineering Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and extensive 3D CAD experience.
  • Strong 2D CAD skills, particularly with AutoCAD.
  • Ability to produce design deliverables to BS8888 standards, including geometric tolerancing and welding specifications.
  • A minimum of 3 years of design delivery experience in a regulated industry, preferably within nuclear, defence, or oil and gas sectors.
