Hours: 25 hours per week

The Role

As a Childcare Assessor, you will work closely with learners and placement providers to support learners' success while fostering long-term relationships with employers. You will play a pivotal role in assessing, guiding, and mentoring learners undertaking childcare and teaching assistant qualifications.

You will be self-sufficient, managing your commitments and deadlines effectively, while maintaining high-quality standards in assessment and teaching. This role requires flexibility to meet employer and learner needs, including occasional evening work.

Key Responsibilities

Learner Assessment and Support

  • Assess learners’ competency and knowledge in workplace settings, ensuring qualifications are completed on time.
  • Use electronic portfolios to track learner progress, providing constructive feedback and setting SMART targets.
  • Deliver engaging teaching and learning sessions to support qualification attainment.

Administrative Tasks

  • Coordinate tests, and examinations, and maintain accurate records of learner progress.
  • Participate in departmental duties, including standardisation and curriculum development.
  • Provide regular updates on learner progress to the Team Leader.

Collaboration and Engagement

  • Work proactively with employers to maximise placement opportunities and enhance learner experiences.
  • Contribute to team efforts in recruitment, standardisation, and performance improvements.
  • Collaborate with other curriculum teams, including Maths and English, to support learner success.

Wider Departmental Contribution

  • Play an active role in curriculum development and ensure teaching aligns with organisational values and vision.
  • Participate in the provision of First Aid assistance when required.

About You

You are a motivated childcare professional with a strong background in early years education. Your excellent communication skills and organisational abilities allow you to manage conflicting deadlines effectively. You are approachable, empathetic, and passionate about supporting learners to achieve their best.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Level 3 or higher qualification in early years education (Licence to Practice).
  • Assessor award or willingness to work towards one.
  • Experience in early years settings as a Nursery Officer or similar role.
  • Experience assessing learners in childcare settings.
  • Strong IT skills and experience using Google Classroom or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of the assessment process and the ability to provide constructive feedback.
  • Full UK driving licence and regular access to a vehicle.

Desirable Skills

  • Level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • First Aid at Work qualification or willingness to undertake.
