GI Group are now seeking to appoint an Occupational Health Practitioner to our client based in Worksop. The Occupational Health Practitioner will promote and support the Health & Wellbeing of our client's employees. They will provide occupational health surveillance, health screening and health promotion advice and guidance.

Main Duties of the Occupational Health Practitioner:

  • Review pre-employment questionnaires, identifying and conducting any assessment to ensure fitness for work. Liaising with Health & Safety team, Managers and HR to ensure any reasonable adjustments are in place as required.
  • Assess referrals to the OH service and providing advice and guidance to maintain a physically and mentally fit workforce.
  • Work with the HR Officers in supporting staff returning to work following a period of absence, providing medical advice and guidance on any adjustments required.
  • Organise and conduct appropriate health surveillance assessments in conjunction with Health & Safety requirements for specialist curriculum areas, liaising with external agencies as required.
  • Identify any health trends within the organisation and determine any preventative initiatives or actions to prevent ill health and absence via health screening, health clinics or other health initiatives.
  • Lead and/or participate in groups that support the promotion of Health & Wellbeing of staff including Mental Health First Aiders.
  • Work with the Health & safety Team to improve the provision of First Aid, in addition to increasing the skills and confidence of appointed First Aiders.
  • Organise, promote and deliver an annual Flu vaccination drive and any other immunisation service that may be required in response to a health need.
  • Organise and maintain information on external support agencies/services in order to refer staff for specialist support not available within the organisation.
  • Refer staff for external services as required, ensuring financial regulations are met.
  • Lead on initiatives and strategies relating to staff health promotion and health education.
  • Work with the HR Team Lead to put together an annual plan of Health and Wellbeing Promotions and Initiatives.

Role Requirements:

  • Experience in an Occupational Health position outside of a hospital environment
  • Experience in a medical role
  • Recognised Occupational Health qualification
  • Registered Nursing qualification
  • Knowledge of current Occupational Health best practice
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and team working
  • Ability to work in an organised and methodical manner
