Job Role: Steel Fixer

Pay: 18-19 PAYE (Day shift)

Description
Barker Ross are looking for Steel Fixers to work in Worksop, as a steel fixer your main duty will be fixing cages within a Precast facility. You will need to be able to follow and read drawings.
You will play a crucial role in shaping the frameworks for buildings and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Measure, cut, bend, and shape steel bars using hand and power tools.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of steel bars.
- Set up and prepare construction sites by removing debris and ensuring safety precautions are followed.
- Install steel bars into concrete forms, ensuring proper alignment and spacing.
- Secure steel bars with clamps, wire, or welds, and check for accuracy and stability.
- Use mechanical and manual tools to position steel bars and concrete in place.
- Inspect and repair faulty reinforcement to maintain structural integrity.
- Collaborate with construction team members and follow project schedules to meet deadlines.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Steel Fixer or in a similar role
- Must drive/have reliable transport to get to the location.
- In-depth knowledge of steel fabrication and reinforcing techniques
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings.
- Strong physical stamina.
- Ability to use hand and power tools effectively and safely.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional accuracy in measuring and cutting steel bars.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
This role is temp-perm for the right candidate.
