Requirements
- Previous experience in bookkeeping or a similar financial role is desirable.
- AAT Level 3 qualification or equivalent in accounting (preferred).
- Strong understanding of core accounting principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both colleagues and customers in a professional manner.
- Strong teamwork skills and a proactive attitude, with a willingness to go the extra mile.
- Familiarity with Xero accounting software is a plus, but training will be available.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, ensuring smooth cash flow and providing weekly updates to management.
- Handle the purchase ledger, including organizing payments to suppliers.
- Administer the sales ledger, ensuring that invoices to customers are accurate and timely.
- Manage the collection of overdue accounts and take necessary steps for credit control.
- Perform regular reconciliation of bank accounts and company credit cards.
- Process financial entries such as prepayments and accruals.
- Prepare necessary accounting journal entries.
- Track and compile sales commissions accurately.
- Perform reconciliation of supplier costs, including conducting profit and loss analyses.
- Ensure that product pricing and cost information remains current and accurate.
- Process customer payments via card and direct debit through BACS services.
- Foster positive relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
- Work with external accountants to ensure timely submission of statutory returns and adherence to regulatory deadlines.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of VAT returns on a quarterly basis.
- Help with the invoicing process on a monthly basis.
