We are seeking a motivated and passionate Senior Ecologist to join our client, a successful and expanding environmental consultancy.
The successful individual will be required to work on development projects for the private sector, local and central government. Assisting the principal ecologist and management team with ecology desk studies, preliminary ecological appraisals, bat roost assessments, and detailed phase 2 habitat surveys and related ecological site works.
This position is split between survey and consultancy work; therefore, the successful individual must be able to complete both comfortably.
Our client is also open to speaking with people who would be happy to relocate to the area.

Senior Ecologist requirements:
- First or second-class degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent
- Full membership of CIEEM
- UK Driving license and access to own car
- Detailed knowledge of UK species and habitat legislation
- Ability to carry out both consultancy and survey works
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration
- Desire to learn and grow
- Ability to mentor junior members of the team
Key duties of the Senior Ecologist role will include, but will not be limited to:
- Manage and take ownership of projects
- Undertake EIA-level ecological reporting and assessment
- Conduct detailed phase 2 habitat surveys - bats, reptiles, amphibians, dormouse, water voles, invertebrates, and birds
- Prepare fee proposals for projects
- Undertake risk assessments as necessary
- Work closely with clients, providing expert advice, managing expectations, and ensuring their needs are met.
- Mentor the junior team members, providing guidance and support, and ensuring quality and consistency in their work
