Tony Alan Recruitment currently has a new exciting new job opportunity for a Head of Finance to join a growing SME business based in the Brighton area on a permanent contract.

They have big growth plans to increase the turnover to £15m to £50m in the future years. This job role would suit someone who is a leader, who is ambitious and wants to progress. It would suit a current Finance Manager or Financial Controller or someone from practice looking to move into the commercial sector.

Your duties will include:

  • Assuming overall responsibility for all aspects of accounts processing and ledger closing, including all balance sheet reconciliations - accruals, prepayments, VAT control, PAYE control.
  • Ensure the company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth.
  • Lead and develop a small team to ensure all reporting requirements within finance are met in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Develop and manage accurate reporting to deadlines, including monthly management accounts, commentary, and other internal reports with subsequent presentation of the former to internal stakeholders.
  • Providing support with forecasting, budgeting, and business planning processes.
  • Driving change programmes, such as system improvements or system changes in the Finance function.
  • Ensuring statutory obligations around corporation tax, VAT, PAYE and joint venture agreement are met.
  • Assisting the auditors with the preparation of statutory accounts.
  • Managing the annual audit fieldwork process - liaising internally with heads of business and externally with auditors.
  • Assisting with the preparation of annual tax computations & liaising with external tax advisor's.
  • Assist with group companies finance departments as and when required.

Key requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Financial Controller/Finance Manager. This role could suit either an existing FC or a Finance Manager looking to progress.
  • Experience of preparing management accounts and statutory accounts.
  • Hold a relevant professional qualification - ACA / ACCA / CIMA.
  • Competent with Microsoft Excel to an intermediate level.
