We are working with a vibrant and inclusive educational community committed to the well-being and success of all students. They are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join the team. This role is essential in supporting the health and medical needs of students, ensuring they thrive in a safe and caring environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first aid and medical care to students as required.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor students with chronic medical conditions (e.g., diabetes, asthma).
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure confidentiality.
  • Support students with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) requiring healthcare assistance during the school day.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and external healthcare providers.
  • Assist in developing and implementing individual healthcare plans (IHPs) for students.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or first aid role, ideally within a school or childcare setting.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in emergencies.
  • Empathy, patience, and a caring demeanour when working with children.

Desirable:

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with children with additional medical needs.
  • Familiarity with school healthcare systems and protocols.
