Healthcare Assistant (School Setting)

8.30-3.30 | Monday-Friday | Term time only
£81.75 a day

We are working with a vibrant and inclusive educational community committed to the well-being and success of all students. They are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join the team. This role is essential in supporting the health and medical needs of students, ensuring they thrive in a safe and caring environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first aid and medical care to students as required.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor students with chronic medical conditions (e.g., diabetes, asthma).
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure confidentiality.
- Support students with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) requiring healthcare assistance during the school day.
- Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and external healthcare providers.
- Assist in developing and implementing individual healthcare plans (IHPs) for students.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience in a healthcare or first aid role, ideally within a school or childcare setting.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in emergencies.
- Empathy, patience, and a caring demeanour when working with children.
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
- Experience working with children with additional medical needs.
- Familiarity with school healthcare systems and protocols.
