A Junior Mechanical Engineer is required to join a well-established manufacturing company based in Worthing. The role involves providing high-quality service and support to both the Production and Production Engineering teams. This will primarily be achieved by continuously improving products and manufacturing processes, as well as maintaining factory equipment, machinery, and plant.

Junior Mechanical Engineer Job Overview
- Take responsibility for developing both practical engineering skills and theoretical knowledge in a workshop setting, following the company's training programs.
- Assist in engineering concept development and implement improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, and cost, while prioritizing health and safety.
- Support equipment maintenance and respond to breakdowns when required.
- Play a role in project execution, including selecting new automation technologies and equipment for enhanced processes.
- Gain hands-on experience working alongside senior engineers on the installation and setup of machinery and tooling to ensure manufacturability.
- Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance in the manufacturing facility, working closely with the engineering workshop team.
- Be prepared to participate in late shifts, weekend work, and out-of-hours support when necessary to ensure essential planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and skill development.
- Share best practices and technical knowledge, assisting in the training of colleagues to minimize risk within the department and business.
- Follow and contribute to ISO 9001:2015 procedures, identifying best practices and engaging in problem-solving and root cause analysis.
Junior Mechanical Engineer Job Requirements
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- At least two years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with some understanding of technical English.
- Knowledge of core manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on experience in machine maintenance.
- Well-organized and able to plan ahead systematically.
Preferred Skills (Desirable, but not essential)
- Experience using at least one CAD system.
- Understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Familiarity with Word, Excel, and SAP ERP software.
- Basic knowledge of lean principles and single-piece flow.
- Experience with wiring cabinets and interpreting electrical schematics.
- Basic understanding of PLCs and fault-finding techniques.
- Fabrication skills (e.g., working with mills and lathes).
- Full UK driving licence.
