About the job

Hourly Rate: £11.79 -£11.98

Enhancements: Weekend working - Time & a half, Bank Holidays - Double time & Night enhancement (8pm - 10pm shifts)

Working Pattern: 25 hours per week, on a 4 weekly rota. These hours will be on night shifts.

Contract Length: Permanent

Location: New Tyne, Worthing

About New Tyne

New Tyne is a home for people who have been diagnosed with dementia. We embrace the ethos of being an open and inclusive home. Where we are able to do so we seek the views and ideas of those living here when making decisions and plans. We encourage family and friends to visit regularly and share in their loved ones' lives where possible.

This might include sharing time in our communal lounges or quieter spaces, or if the weather is good, sitting in the garden. We also enjoy themed parties and events tomark special occasions and welcome people to these. We also support and encourage people to access their local community if they wish to.

Key Skills (These will be used as the shortlisting criteria, please detail on your application how your experience demonstrates these skills and which role it relates to)

  • You are able to interpret information, such as service complaints, and redirect them to the appropriate person to provide quick and accurate resolution.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • You will show the ability to deal appropriately with expressive behaviour from the people we support, and respond sensitively to their families and carers.
  • Confident in building relationships with people from a wide variety of cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team completing shared tasks as required.

Qualifications and/ experience

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills, in order to record and document activities in the provider plans.
  • Basic understanding of the needs of the people we support and their rights as an individual.
  • Demonstrable successful experience of working as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety practice, First Aid and Fire procedure, Manual Handling - Desirable
  • NVQ 2/Diploma in Care or equivalent qualification - Desirable
  • Previous experience of working in a care setting and with people who have a disability or are vulnerable - Desirable
  • Previous experience of running group activities - Desirable
