About the Role

As a Category Specialist, you will be at the forefront of developing and implementing innovative category and demand strategies. You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of their requirements, volume demands, and specifications. Your expertise will drive value creation and minimise total cost of ownership through effective sourcing and contracting. Categories include Operations, Technical/Engineering and IT/Digital.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement category-specific strategies in alignment with procurement and value management objectives.
  • Engage with business leads to understand and meet their needs effectively.
  • Execute the full sourcing lifecycle while driving cost reduction initiatives through standardisation and demand aggregation.
  • Continuously improve processes by translating external best practises into actionable proposals.
  • Monitor operational performance, ensuring compliance with policies and governance frameworks.
  • Support the Senior Category Manager in executing commercial activities to achieve strategic goals.
What We're Looking For:

To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
  • Confident in written and verbal communication, with the ability to present effectively to various audiences.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience managing multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.
  • In-depth category experience in either engineering and construction or asset purchase and hire.
  • Knowledge of UCR and ABC legislation; familiarity with the Public Procurement Act is a plus.
  • A CIPS qualification is highly desirable.
