Speech & Language Therapist- Band 6

Job Summary

  • As a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist (SLT), you will provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for individuals with speech, language, communication, or swallowing difficulties. The role involves working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based interventions that enhance quality of life and promote functional communication and swallowing outcomes.

  • HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist
  • Needs to have experience of working in Paediatrics
  • Experience of working in mainstream and/or special schools to carry out assessment of Speech, language and communication needs.
  • Ability to write SMART goals and provide advice and recommendations based on the needs of the child and their family/carers.
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports for the EHCP process to tight 6 week deadlines
  • To write concise therapy plans with clear outcomes and relevant activity programmes
  • Self motivated and autonomous worker who can manage their own time and diary to meet the needs of the service.
  • Knowledge of supporting children with special educational needs and additional needs essential, including children who are verbal and non-verbal.
  • Previous experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team and carrying out joint visits/assessment with other AHP’s essential
  • Experience of carrying out standardised and non-standardised assessments for this client group.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience of talking to families and the wider MDT
  • Ability to travel to site
