Job Title: Caretaker

Are you practical, reliable, and take pride in keeping spaces clean, safe, and well-maintained? We are looking for a dedicated Part-Time Caretaker to join our school team.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the school's interior, including classrooms, offices, toilets, and public areas, is cleaned to a high standard. You will also maintain the exterior by cleaning paintwork, windows, and outdoor areas, as well as clearing pathways, playgrounds, and gardens of litter and debris. Ensuring walkways are safe by gritting in icy conditions is an important part of the role.

You will manage waste collection in line with school guidelines and perform general repairs such as painting, clearing gutters, and changing lightbulbs. As part of your duties, you will open the school premises by 7:30am and secure them at the end of the day. You will also conduct routine fire safety checks and maintain records of fire alarm testing.

During school holidays, you will undertake larger cleaning tasks and assist in opening premises for building maintenance. Maintaining cleaning equipment and monitoring stock levels through the school administrator will also fall under your responsibilities. Additionally, you will participate in relevant training, such as Fire Marshall, COSHH, and working at heights, to ensure safe practices are followed.

As a keyholder, you will need to respond to out-of-hours emergency call-outs when required. This role requires someone proactive and dependable, with good practical skills for repairs and maintenance, and flexibility to adapt to the needs of the school.

This is a 20-hour-per-week position, with some flexibility required during school holidays.
