A unique opportunity with a growing business who operate within a niche sector are currently looking to recruit an Instrument Build Engineer. As manufacturers of a globally-rare product, this business has connections with high-profile clients across the globe: including the likes of Cambridge and MIT.

As an Instrument Build Engineer, you will be based in the workshop - working to manually assemble components within the manufacturing of the product. An ideal candidate must have experience working in a hands-on environment. They should have soldering skills and experience using hand tools.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • High precision assembly of components to aid the manufacturing process for nanomechanical products.
  • Aiding the production of component prototypes through the use of hand tools.
  • Mechanical fitting and soldering.
  • Detection of issues within the assembly process - a keen eye for detail is essential for this position.
  • Utilising a continuous improvement focused mindset to ensure design and production processes are optimised.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • MUST have experience within a workshop setting in a hands-on role.
  • Competence with hand tools and small machines (small lathes and manual mills).
  • Experience with soldering and mechanical fitting.
  • Experience working within a high precision environment - must have a keen eye for detail to detect issues with products.
  • Ability to read technical drawings.
  • CAD proficiency (desirable but NOT ESSENTIAL).
