- Handle cases involving child protection, care & support, deprivation of liberty, court action, and school attendance.
- Provide support to adults, children, and their families and carers, ensuring effective decision-making and risk management.
- Conduct assessments, develop care and support plans, and design other relevant plans such as education plans.
- Coordinate external support provisions within allocated budget parameters and in partnership with relevant services.
- Protect the interests of adults and children, taking necessary actions to safeguard individuals at immediate risk of harm.
- Make decisions in the best interest of adults/children and manage crisis situations effectively through the team’s duty system.
- Act as a role model, providing advice, mentoring, and support to colleagues, new social workers, and students.
- Participate in the supervision, assessment, and professional development of social work students and junior team members.
- Contribute to quality assurance by auditing and reviewing files and practices.
- Carry out best interest assessments (Deprivation of Liberty/Liberty Protection Safeguards).
- Prepare court reports and represent the team in court proceedings as required.
- Support team leadership in chairing care, support, and safeguarding meetings.
- Proven experience in managing diverse and high-risk caseloads.
- Strong understanding of child protection, adult safeguarding, and legal frameworks, including Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
- Excellent assessment, planning, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a duty system, managing crisis situations and ensuring timely responses.
