Your new companyAs the sole agency supplier to the HM Prison Service for the provision of maintenance trades and support operatives. Hays is seeking to recruit a Part-Time Cleaner for HMP Kirklevington Grange. This is an exciting opportunity to work within the prison service and can often lead to permanent opportunities. The post is part-time (20 hours per week) *** ongoing temporary with opportunity to apply for permanent roles.Your new roleThe main responsibility for this role is to be part of a cleaning team covering all staff and visitor areas of the prison. You will be responsible for:

  • Cleaning office areas, gatehouse / entrance areas, corridors and visitor areas of the prison
  • Working to prison standards using correct equipment
  • Ensuring no security practices are breached within the prison.

Due to the challenging environment of the workplace, the ideal candidate will need to be level-headed, security conscious, be able to follow processes and procedures and understand why they are in place, be honest and have the confidence to report any suspicious activity that they see in the prison and be able to use their own initiative.What you'll need to succeedYou must be able to pass a full prison security clearance (Hays and the MOJ are responsible for organising all security clearances)You must hold a valid passport or Full Birth Certificate & Photo Driving Licence at your current address.You must have proof of National Insurance AND proof of address dated in the past 3 months.All applicants must be able to provide details of at least 2 satisfactory references.Previous cleaning experience desired but not essentialWhat you'll get in returnYou will in return have a guaranteed point of contact throughout the vetting and application process and weekly payment on submission of an approved timesheet. You will have the opportunity to gain experience in a prison environment, which will enhance your chances of gaining permanent employment directly with the MOJ.
