You will also take Principal Designer responsibility for the work within the team, developing innovative design solutions and delivering them within time and budget.
Working primarily to support Urban Transport objectives, your work may include highways, civil, structural, drainage, contract administration and surveying tasks. Postholders are expected to adapt to different fields as required by individual project briefs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing and delivering complex construction projects in constrained urban environments as part of a design team or independently
- Conducting initial, interim, and final surveys and investigations
- Completing designs, calculations, specifications, plans, drawings, estimates, reports, and bills of quantities using Computer Aided Design and other specialist software
- Performing site visits to ensure the contractor is working in accordance with the specification and programme, ensuring safety on the construction site and reporting any concerns
- Preparing, issuing, updating, and closing statutory and other notices in accordance with legal requirements
- Liaising with statutory undertakers and other departments to manage conflicts and coordinate delivery
- Responsible for the financial and contract management of projects, focusing on delivery within time and budget
Job Requirements:
- Experience in highway engineering within the HTP sector
- Proficiency in Computer Aided Design and other specialist software
- Strong project management skills with the ability to deliver projects within time and budget
- Understanding of CDM regulations and Principal Designer responsibilities
- Robust problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team
