Layer One Network Lead Engineer
Our client are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Layer 1 Network Lead Engineer to join our growing team focused on defence sector products.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to implement, exploit and further develop an emerging Layer 1 (physical) underwater acoustic waveform technology.
You will play a pivotal role in taking forward the technology to meet the clients needs and emerging requirements for secure and resilient underwater communications. As Layer One Network Lead Engineer you will ensure layer1 implementation is aligned and compliant with test and evaluation frameworks as they mature.
Layer One Network Lead Engineer skills and experience:
- Active SC Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Degree educated: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Expertise in Layer One physical layer signal processing techniques, including modulation, demodulation, channel estimation, equalization, and error correction coding (e.g., LDPC, Turbo, BCH, or Polar Codes).
- Experience in defining and implementing interfaces between Layer 1 and higher layers (Layer 2/3).
- Familiarity with standards compliance testing, preferably MIL-STD communication standards.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, or Python, and tools like MATLAB for algorithm development and simulation.
- Strong understanding of wireless communication systems, signal characteristics, and channel modelling.
- Ability to engage and collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders, external consultants, and technical experts.
This Layer One Network Lead Engineer requires strong programming language skills in C, C++ or Python, the ability to obtain SC Clearance, you must be degree educated and the role will require travel in the UK.
