Software Team Lead

Location: Yateley

Our client is a world leader in the development and manufacturing of underwater technology used across various sectors for monitoring, surveying and imaging. They are looking to hire a Software Team Lead to work on complex software projects for one or more products or technology areas.

If you are enthusiastic about guiding and nurturing a team of skilled engineers while remaining actively involved in software development, this role is an ideal fit for you. You will be instrumental in fostering a supportive and collaborative environment where innovation can flourish. Your role will blend leadership with hands-on technical contributions, driving the development of C# desktop applications and Web Apps for embedded devices.

What You'll Do:

Team Leadership:

  • Guide and support a team of software engineers, helping them achieve their personal and professional goals alongside the broader goals of our company.
  • Mentor and coach your team, creating a nurturing atmosphere where collaboration and creativity can thrive.
  • Thoughtfully allocate resources, ensuring that team members are well-positioned to meet product goals.
  • Oversee team administration, including setting goals and conducting performance reviews.

Technical Leadership & Software Development:

  • Lead the planning, architecture, development, and validation of innovative software features and products, primarily focusing on C#.
  • Provide guidance on technical challenges, offering support to resolve complex issues and fostering team growth.
  • Facilitate meaningful technical discussions and drive continuous improvement across products and engineering processes.
  • Address and resolve complex bugs, offering direct assistance to junior team members and customers.

Innovation:

  • Explore and identify opportunities to enhance software efficiency across the business.
  • Stay informed on the latest advancements in your areas of technical expertise.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with other engineering teams to seamlessly integrate hardware and software, enhancing the value delivered to our customers.
  • Engage in design and architectural discussions with other technical leaders, contributing your insights and ideas.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring smooth and informed decision-making.
  • Share best practices and the latest technical innovations with your team, helping them to make accurate project estimates.
  • Provide customer support as needed, ensuring a positive experience and successful outcomes.

What You'll Bring:

  • Proficiency in C# and software design with a focus on user experience (UX).
  • Experience with Web Development (Angular/React), C+/C++, and Embedded Systems.
